Cook with peas!

What's On?

A week aimed at raising awareness of and increasing the understanding of the heritage of peas, during Great British Pea Week 2017 we also shared some delicious pea recipes from the incredibly talented TV chef and Yes Peas! campaign ambassador, Chef Rachel Green and encouraged the British public to cook with this incredibly versatile ingredient. But, that’s not all...

Great British Pea Week was an opportunity for writers and journalists to enjoy a rare harvesting experience. On Thursday 13th July, British Pea farmers welcomed the UK media into the fields to be a part of the 2017 UK pea harvest so that they could share the journey of the humble pea from the field to the freezer. If that wasn’t enough excitement, attendees enjoyed a delicious pea inspired “lunch from the fields” catered and hosted by Rachel Green and were taken on a tour of a local factory.

We launched our #FarmerCam, a webisode series taking you through the pea harvest hosted by our hardworking farmers. Take a look at our Youtube Channel here. We were also lucky enough to feature in an episode of Blue Peter this August, in which presenter Radzi was shown around our Lincolnshire pea factory and attempted to take on the world record for eating peas! Chris Evans showed his support for Great British Pea Week interviewing one of our pea farmers on his breakfast show, and we persuaded Saturday Kitchen to come down to see the journey of the pea from the field to the freezer as well!
