The UK is proudly the largest producer and consumer of frozen peas in Europe and from July, approximately 700 pea growers will harvest 2 billion portions of peas to feed Britain for the year. Britain is 90% self-sufficient in pea production with 35,000 hectares of peas grown in the UK each year, equivalent to about 70,000 football pitches.
"The locked in freshness of frozen peas means we can enjoy British peas all year round! Great British Pea Week is here to put peas firmly on the food agenda and give everyone a reason to enjoy this versatile and nutritional vegetable at the peak of the British harvesting season, as well as all year-round."
Welcome to the Great British Pea Week website, a site dedicated to the week in which we celebrate all things Peas. Taking place on the second weekend of July (this year 10-16th July), Great British Pea Week is an annual national awareness week that was launched this year by the Yes Peas! campaign and the British Growers Association to celebrate the British pea harvest.
Discover all there is about Great British Pea Week on our website and browse the delicious range of Pea recipes created by our Yes Peas! campaign ambassador, Rachel Green. From starters to desserts, budget to luxury, there is a pea dish suitable for the whole family to enjoy.
